HAPPINESS, WHIRLWIND, and LIFE BALANCE
Wednesday, May 15
2:30-3:30PM

Julie Fitzpatrick, DPT, and founder/owner of Optimal Wellness incorporates her knowledge of physical therapy and lifestyle medicine to help and guide individuals in necessary habit changes to develop a healthier and happier lifestyle. Her guidance in areas such as fueling the body properly, recognizing the importance of sleep, hydrating and self-care along with incorporating appropriate exercises provide the needed change to reduce pain and inflammation, and increase energy level and daily function.

Julie applied this knowledge in her own life this past year. Julie’s partner Jan Jensen is the Iowa Hawkeye Women’s Basketball Assistant Head Coach. Inevitably, the family was impacted by the Hawkeye Women’s team success. The couple are also parents to two teenagers. Come enjoy a conversation with Julie as she addresses her professional expertise on the importance of life balance in wellness while sharing personal life experiences as a pivotal family of the The University of Iowa Women’s Basketball Coaching Staff.

COME FOR KOMBUCHA!
Friday, May 24
1:00-2:30PM

Former Body Moves yoga & qigong student Carol Wise and her husband Bob will host a casual conversation revolving around their passion for kombucha!  While you can now find kombucha in an array of flavors on the supermarket shelf, traditionally kombucha is a probiotic-rich fermented tea that’s been enjoyed by people of different cultures for thousands of years. Beyond being a sour, slightly effervescent drink, there are many claims about kombucha’s purported health benefits.

Students will learn what kombucha is, how it’s made, and some of the benefits it may provide from boosting our immune systems to supporting digestion as Bob and Carol share about their experience with kombucha, including what SCOBY is and the step-by-step process of brewing kombucha. Enjoy a sample of Kombucha during a Q & A time.

There is no fee for this special event. Reserve your space online.
