Congratulations, Body Movers! We’ve made it to the last day of our two- week Gratitude Challenge! Have you noticed a change in your attitude during that time?
Regularly practicing gratitude supports our well-being with long lasting effects.
It can boost our mood, increase our patience, and reduce symptoms of depression and anxiety. It also supports creativity. That’s quite a list!
With so many amazing benefits, why wouldn’t we practice gratitude on a daily basis?
We all know the answer! Change is hard, and individual acts of gratefulness are easier to do than making gratitude a daily practice. The latter requires desire and commitment to cultivate gratitude until it is an integral part of your life.
But there are things we can do to help keep positive thoughts in the forefront of our minds. One idea is simple but not always obvious: put positive things in front of our eyes!
With that thought in mind, today’s activity is:
Make a gratitude board.
At home, I have a magnetic board with the quote, “Life doesn’t have to be perfect to be beautiful.” On it, I rotate pictures of my kids and family as well as notes from friends, poems, verses, and quotes.
It’s a daily, visual reminder to me, a recovering perfectionist, that there is much beauty to be enjoyed in life, albeit an imperfect one.
Now it’s your turn. Be it quick and simple or full and elaborate, be it done fully today or ever a work in progress…make a gratitude board to remind yourself of ALL you have to be grateful for.
It can be as simple as taping a sheet of paper to your closet door (use painters tape!), so you can easily paste, tape, write words or pictures!
If you already have a gratitude board, let this post serve as a reminder to update it and keep using it! We don’t want our gratefulness to be stagnant! Savor your blessings!!
Remember, there is always something to be thankful for.
